Creating a horse sculpture using Copper Filament printed with a  Qidi Q1 Pro 3D printer and a  Bamboo A1 PRO

Printing and Assembly

The initial print was done using PLA copper filament. However, due to the size of the horse, I had to cut the digital file in half and print it in two sections. After printing, I joined the halves using epoxy resin. While the resin created a strong bond, it left a visible seam between the two parts

To hide the seams I made a skim coat mixture  using copper powder, bicarbonate soda and epoxy resin. This mixture allowed me to skim coat the entire horse, effectively hiding the seam and any other imperfections with green oxide. After the putty cured, I sanded the the parts smooth.
